This hotel of great warmth and character is situated between Torquay's town centre and marina on one side, and Babbacombe Downs with their magnificent sea views on the other.

The hotel derives its name from the enchanting Ansteys Cove, Torquay, once a smuggler's haven. Ansteys Lea was originally a Victorian gentleman's residence and became a small hotel in 1946. The buildings traditional Victorian ceiling with cornices and roses are a wonderful architectural feature.

The hotel is on the main bus route into Torquay city centre, which takes a matter of minutes. Within 10 minutes stroll you can be in Torquay's centre enjoying the Edwardian Pavilion, the lights and the harbour.

Food and Beverages
The Wedgwood Blue Dining Room's main feature is a superb bay window which overlooks the landscaped garden with its famous Torbay Palms. The atmosphere in the dining room is enhanced by several original signed pictures, and lighting designed to create a comfortable setting.

Area Information
The hotels main lawn sees the sun for the best part of the day, and is so sheltered that almost anything grows. A well laid out rockery meanders round the lawns. A small summerhouse close to the hotel is a peaceful spot where you can watch the world go by. The heated outdoor swimming pool is surrounded by a large patio area. It is open from June to September.

There is even an original brass 'butler's bell' should you need attention.

Area Information
The nearby village of Wellswood in Torquay has a selection of all kinds of shops, including a supermarket, a cash point, shops, a florist and a pub. A short walk in the other direction takes you to Babbacombe with its famous model village - cited as one of the 20 Places In Britain You Must Visit by Woman magazine. Babbacombe also has Bygones a museum and curiosity shop with a genuine railway engine.

Torquay is the heart of the English Riviera with some of the sunniest weather in England.

From Torquay Railway Station, the hotel is only a short bus or taxi ride away.

By Car:
- Go to Torquay Harbour, then take the road to Babbacombe.
